Regulation 17 is introduced in Ontario

Regulation 17 makes English the only language of instruction in Ontario’s public schools after the first two years of school.

Franco-Ontarians protested and created a separate school system.

In addition, Anglophones represented by the Unity League of Ontario opposed Regulation 17.

The Regulation stopped being enforced in 1927 and was not renewed in 1944.
