May 30 is declared to be the Journée de la francophonie terre-neuvienne-et-labradorienne

An Order in Council is passed by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Every year on May 30, the Franco-Newfoundland and Labrador flag is raised in a traditional ceremony held in each of the province’s Francophone regions.

This symbolic day is an opportunity to celebrate the language and culture of Franco-Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, whose presence in the province dates back more than 500 years.
