The Government decides to reinstate the Court Challenges Program

After its elimination in 2006 and replacement by the Language Rights Support Program in 2008, the Court Challenges Program (CCP) was restored by Justin Trudeau’s Liberal government in February 2017.

The University of Ottawa is now responsible for managing the new Canadian Centre for the Court Challenges Program (CCCCP), which officially opened in January 2019.

With an annual budget of $5 million, including $1.5 million for clarifying official language rights, this program allows members and organizations of official language minority communities to obtain funding to bring language cases to court.
