Summit on the 50th anniversary of the Official Languages Act and the future of bilingualism in Canada

November 21 to 23, 2019, in Gatineau, Quebec

To mark the 50th anniversary of the Official Languages Act, the Association for Canadian Studies, the Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages and Canadian Parents for French are organizing a bilingual summit entitled Officially 50! This summit, which will bring together researchers, educators and parents, will provide an opportunity to exchange ideas on how the two official languages have shaped Canada’s historical narrative and the current challenges encountered by educators in fostering linguistic duality within the context of increasing diversity and multiple identities.
